The Overview
This project involved a full transformation of the main floor, basement, and exterior, with a focus on creating a home that feels cohesive, functional, and prepared to support the homeowners for years to come. Throughout the design process, it was important to preserve the character and features they already loved, including the fireplace and original wood panelling, and to thoughtfully weave those elements into the updated design.
The Details
Aging in place was also a key consideration in the planning. The home was designed to better support long term comfort and accessibility, including the addition of a walk in tub, shower backing for future grab bars, and a private basement bedroom with an ensuite that could serve as a future nurse suite if needed. The result is a home that feels refreshed and refined while still honouring its original charm and offering greater peace of mind for the future.
